I’ve read a lot of information that says that granulated activated carbon will remove anywhere from 40-70% of arsenic from the water. Why do you say that it doesn’t remove heavy metals? Can you please point me in the direction of the information that you used for that? I’d like to read up on everything before we make our decision. We are on a well with arsenic and I’m looking for the best solution.
While The Home Depot uses FPR, the industry standard is to use the air filter rating system of Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV). The MERV rating system helps you choose the filter right for you, with each rating dictating the effectiveness of a filter. The higher the MERV rating, the more efficient the filter, and the more a filter can catch harmful pollutants.
Undergravel filters sit below the gravel (yet another filter name that leaves nothing to the imagination) and suck water and debris through the gravel. The idea is that the debris will get trapped in the gravel. Then the debris-free water passes up through the tubes. An airstone and air pump are attached to the top of the tube to create the suction.

A common concern was damage done to the container. One was warped by move's end and the other had to be fixed after a forklift accident. The containers are moved using forklifts, which has its pros and cons. On the negative side, the forklift can be accident prone, especially if the professional handling it is new to this game. On the bright side, one reviewer, Suzanne S., who had moved from Berkeley to Boston, wrote the forklift was a lifesaver when navigating narrow, congested streets.
All you have to do is screw this water filter system on to your kitchen faucet—there are no tools required! The PUR Filter well then remove more than 70 contaminants from your water, including 99% of lead, plus chlorine, mercury, and pesticides. Some of my goods were damaged clearly during transportation. Additionally, it was impossible to arrange delivery and pick up times once you picked your day. (This inconvenienced the buyers of my home, as the storage containers sat in front of the house until 5pm despite closing at 10am.) However, I booked them for their convenience and their customer service is great.
Mechanical air filters remove dust by capturing it on the filter medium, the material that makes up the filter element. A mechanical air filter is any type of dry media filter. All of the throwaway air filters used in HVAC systems and Air Handlers are mechanical air filters. Any man made or natural fiber filter is a mechanical air filter. This includes HEPA air filters as well. Source
In addition, most of the country (210 million Americans), now have their municipal water fluoridated without the consent of the homeowner. Fluoride is a nasty chemical derived from the fertilizer industry as a waste product from its manufacturing process. All of these chemicals have been shown to have deleterious health effects including reduced IQ in children.
To help put this into perspective, a hair from your head is about 60-75 microns in diameter. Particles under 35 microns are not visible to the naked eye. You can’t see most of the contaminants in the air. Pollen particles can range from 10 to 100 microns in size; dust from 0.5 to 5 microns; human dander, 10 microns or higher; etc. The majority of harmful particles are less than 5 microns in size. They were on time, and our stuff was not damaged. This company gave a quote that was 30% off of the final amount. They also charged us for locks that were not delivered. The containers are not consistent in build. Some were very close to the end of their service life... probably past that date. They do have an interesting concept. It appears that Trucking companies do this along with their main business of logistics. They are a bit disorganized, probably because this is not their main business. The main contact office (the franchiser) is also a bit difficult to work with, as there isn't consistently among the various part-time customer service reps.
