Sponge filters can look large and bulky in your tank. Some air pumps can be pretty noisy, too. Most sponge filters are rated for tanks up to 10 gallons in size, which limits options for larger tanks. But there are solutions out there–multiple sponge filters in a single tank could provide adequate filtration rates. And some sponge filters pair well with certain HOB filters.
Ensuring that your filter fits properly in your HVAC system means making sure that you have not only the right length and width, but also thickness of your filter. Most standard air filters are 1 - 2 inches in thickness. Whereas media filters are typically 3 to 5 inches in thickness. The best way to measure your air filter size is to get out the measuring tape and measure it directly.

These filters can trap very small particles of dust, pollen, mold, and other irritants. Some of these filters work much like the air and oil filters in your car. Higher efficiency air filters can sometimes be coated with chemicals that can kill tiny microbes such as bacteria and mold. There are several advantages to using these higher efficiency air filters. Not only will your heating and cooling equipment perform better, your operating costs may well be lower. The air you breathe will be cleaner, as will your furniture and drapes. That $60 service call could have bought 10 filters that may have lasted through five cooling seasons! Source
To help put this into perspective, a hair from your head is about 60-75 microns in diameter. Particles under 35 microns are not visible to the naked eye. You can’t see most of the contaminants in the air. Pollen particles can range from 10 to 100 microns in size; dust from 0.5 to 5 microns; human dander, 10 microns or higher; etc. The majority of harmful particles are less than 5 microns in size. Okay, I get it. Door to Door does not serve the entire country in the way a company like U-Haul does, nor does it go abroad even to places, such as our neighbor Canada. That's fine. But the website suggested it did provide moving services for New York City and Orlando and their surrounding areas. Fort Lee, NJ, the starting point for this hypothetical move, is literally home to the George Washington Bridge, which links the Garden State to Manhattan. Manhattan and the Bronx, which is even closer to Fort Lee, are both listed as moving destinations for Door to Door. In fact, U-Haul was possibly going to make the warehouse for my stuff be its Bronx location. So, Door to Door seems small potatoes if it can't provide service in a part of northern New Jersey that is as close to NYC as my town is.
